One of the challenges i have found living in a foreign country is preparing or call it cooking food you dont know. Right now , i have lots of food, American food in the refrigerator and cupboard, but i dont know how to cook it . I will never forget a day i ate raw beans , i had bought tinned beans and i knew all i had to do was warm them a bit for one minute in a micro wave oven. There are days i have gone hungry, because i look at the food and i really wonder how to cook. So some of the days, i buy food i was used to in Uganda, like Rice, i think i eat rice 5 days a week, because that is what i know how to cook and that is what i can find in the stores in America that is similar to what i was used to in Uganda. Then recently i got to know that i could buy chicken drum sticks from Target, so some times i buy those drumsticks and cook that, and eat it with Rice. AGain its because Chicken is the same like we have in Uganda. Common also in my diet is Milk, i buy that from 99 cents and eggs. I eat friend eggs everyday for breakfast . The other thing , i learnt to make is Sandwich, so i make a sandwich , i will use bread, Bologna , and Cheese , and Lettuce . Sincerely most of the days, i will eat what i dont know. I dont know what Cheese is made of i dont Bilogna, when i visit people or go to functions, they serve foods and i eat, but most cases i even dont know what i am eating. Mexican friends of mine one day, served me with something called Tamales , up to now, i dont know what a tamale is, but it tastes good. And the food is AMerica is diverse, there many types of food state to state, home to home, everyday i see a different type of food. In Uganda we never eat raw vegetables, but here they serve leaves and cabbages, and many times i will eat leaves mixed with ingredinets i dont know . Then there is what they call Pizza, i have eaten that too, but i dont know what it is made of, what is a Pizza?
